I have just booked a 1 month stay at a lovely place in France for June 2027.
I have no problem with the price but as I booked for 28 days or more I to pay the whole amount - >£2,000 which I resent doing and AirBnB will hold this for 11 months.
Given that I can cancel up until May '27 there is no commitment at all.
Does the host benefit from this early payment, if not why not.
What would happen if I booked for 27 days, does this mandate still apply.
I would not mind paying a deposit of 10-15%, non-returnable if neccesary.
I used VRBO last year for the same duration and payed in two installements, the first when a proportion of the cancellation period reached a certain point and the ballance when the cancellation point was reached.
This seems a more equitable arrangement.
