Pool not heated as promised. Compensation?

My question is, how much compensation should one get for the lack of a promised heated shared pool?

I'm currently staying for a month in a condo that is part of a high rise condo development in Florida in January.  The owners of the condo hired a management company to rent it out and that company put it on Airbnb.  Before I rented, I specifically asked if the condo community pool was heated.  If not, I would have chosen another place.  They replied via Airbnb chat that yes it is heated.  So I booked the same day (last August).  But when we got here, it was ice cold and unusable.  Other residents told us a pump broke and it will be some time before it is repaired. -- likely the entire month we are here.

I notified the management company and they said they would find out when it would be fixed.  Didn't hear from them.  I pinged them again after 1 week.  Then wrote to them in the chat and said I would be wanting some financial compensation, since they can see from pre-purchase chat that I asked if it was heated specifically.   I asked if they want me to go to them directly to determine compensation or to go through Airbnb.  They replied management would get back with me.  But crickets for 3 days.  So I'll try Airbnb Resolution Monday.

If they refuse to compensate, should I just give them a bad review and move on?  Thanks.

@Gary1003  There are so many reports of guests getting terrible service from these big property managed places. It's much less risky to book with hosts who look after their own listings, or may have a private co-host.

I don't know how far you'll get with Airbnb,  but if I were you, I would at least try to get some discount, as this is listed amenity that was important to you, and which you were even assured via message was available.

But it also seems that while Airbnb would likely side with you if this were a small-time host, they seem to turn a blind eye to the poor behavior of these management companies, as they bring in so much money with their plethora of listings.

The bottom line with Airbnbs, though, is that if you find a place unacceptable in some way, and the host is unwillin or unable to address the issue, your choice is to notify Airbnb of the issue, cancel and leave, getting refunded for unstayed days, or resign yourself to the conditions, stay, and not get refunded.

Definitely leave an appropriate review.
