Privacy Violation

Hello all, I am concerned about a privacy violation. I have already obtained my refund thank goodness. I am a guest, not a host. This is not one of those "my host entered without my permission !' posts. This is different. This is not an easy read, it requires fine reading comprehension to understand at least somewhat.

 

It all started when I inquired about a hosts room that was available to book. The host mentioned they wanted a review of me first before confirming the reservation. Fine with me, I can understand. I am new to airbnb so I don't have any reviews though.  My previous host during my very first stay was weird however, making strange/impolite comments about women, so I didn't care if he reviewed me or not.  She then confirmed the reservation without reading the review she wanted. 

 

She wanted me to call my previous host, so that they could text about me outside the app and she could get a review from there, but she already confirmed the reservation. She spoke to me via text outside the airbnb app about needing the review, again despite already confirming the booking. She then sent me another a text outside the airbnb app, saying that airbnb wont give her my previous hosts number, so she is trying manipulate airbnb policy essentially ? She then texted me on how to get the hosts number, by showing me screenshots of how to do it in the app, but she sent me her current guests information, name and basic profile information, along with instructions of how to get the previous hosts number.  "Heres an example from our current guest" Again she showed me her current guests name and profile information. I wish I could provide a photo here to make more sense. I would also need to redact info if I shared that screenshot of course.

 

I spoke with airbnb, they said despite a privacy violation of the host sending me another guests info, I would still need to contact the host for a refund. I obtained my refund thank goodness. I was scared because the hosts policy was no refunds. Red flag I should have paid more attention to ! I was also not required to provide a review after she already confirmed the booking !  

 

Airbnb, if the host is in violation of privacy practices, why do I need to contact the host for a refund ? Why is it not an automatic credit or refund on airbnb's behalf ? 

 

Hosts, why do some of you not provide any refunds whatsoever ? 

 

I might leave airbnb after this one.
