Hi, I was demoted from super host( something I've had for many years) because I had double-booked and had to cancel a reservation. I called the person within twenty minutes of seeing the reservation, by the way. I explained to Airbnb that I had never done that before, but, the guest had booked on a different platform the night before and I did not block it. I've been so slow I could not believe that the next morning someone booked for a weekend four months out! My fault. That stripped the superhost status. Could that be why I'm not getting the bookings? Also, it's in the middle of nowhere, but, with Intel, Google, meta and Amazon all within 20 miles, I would think bookings would be growing. Love to hear from you all!

Hi @Leslie792
I've been looking into how you're ranked.
Considering how fantastic your place is, you deserve to be ranked higher. Currently, one must zoom in quite a bit into your area before Airbnb decides to show your listing. Airbnb only displays the 300 places it believes have the best chance of being rented for any given search, even though there could be thousands of listings that essentially meet the search criteria. It's important to move up in the ranking.
It's difficult to assess whether the temporary loss of your "Superhost" badge is the reason for receiving fewer bookings (hence ranking lower than before). Although the "Guest Favorite" status seems to be more important than the super host status today, both are still crucial in securing a good ranking.
Until you become superhosts again, there are several things you can do to get Airbnb's search algorithm to notice you again and move you forward in the list of listings in your local area.
When was the last time you made changes to your listing? – Airbnb favors hosts who are active, log in often, and have listings that are freshly updated.
I would make a series of updates to show Airbnb that you are very serious and active hosts. To be ranked better, you might consider some of the following:
- Lower the price for a period to be more competitive. This can help you rank higher and become more visible on Airbnb
- Offer price deals like "Early Bird" under Pricing. This can also help you move up.
- Edit the title and descriptions so they are fresh and updated
- Adjust your calendar frequently
- You're categorized as "Barn," but what about aiming for the "Popular" category? You have 71 reviews and an average of 4.92. – That could fall under the popular category. Try calling Airbnb and ask them to review your place to see if it meets that category
- Your photos are beautiful and showcase a place one would definitely want to stay in, but consider replacing some of them, ensuring they meet the right size and resolution requirements as Airbnb demands. I see, for example, that your photo of the parking area does not meet these criteria. It's small and blurry. See the criteria here: https://airbnb.com/help/article/3024?_set_bev_on_new_domain=1711015484_M2ZkMzA5M2U4NmRl
- Make sure as many Airbnb users, guests, and potential guests add your place to their personal wish list. You can ask for this upon departure if they haven't already done it
- Airbnb has a list of amenities most desired by Airbnb guests: https://airbnb.com/resources/hosting-homes/a/the-amenities-guests-want-25?_set_bev_on_new_domain=171...
Can you add any of these to become attractive again? I see many consider installing a spa or an outdoor wood-fired hot tub.
- Consider doing a Google search on what affects your ranking. For instance, I really like to be inspired by this thorough list: https://bnbduck.com/51-ways-to-improve-your-airbnb-ranking/
These are some of my suggestions.
I hope you find them useful.

Hi @Leslie792
I looked over your listing and wow! Awesome place!
From a marketing standpoint, maybe you could update the headline to draw a wider interest group. Perhaps change the focus to stargazing groups. Stargazers are constantly looking for places where the light pollution is minimal. Maybe promote the property to families who want to vacation together.
Hope this is helpful!
Regards,
Leigh
