Re:"Update to our fee transparency policy"

I received an email saying that extra fees will no longer be allowed to be charged and must be included in the nightly price. Does this include the cleaning fee Many of us have charged for years?

The email said:

"Any mandatory fees not included in a listing’s total price at checkout are no longer allowed."

Does this mean all cleaning fees will be removed by air bnb on the host's calendar price settings?

"must be included in the nightly price or “Additional Charges” in your calendar’s price settings."

"These updates, effective May 10, 2025"

Please clarify.

Hi @Christine3254

The cleaning fee is usually under additional charges, so there's no problem (unless you've been charging guests for cleaning after they've already booked and paid).

Hello @Christine3254

Like @Shelley159  says, as long as your cleaning fee/pet fee etc is included in the Additional fees section, they are allowed of course!

Airbnb are targeting hosts who ask for payment off platform for undisclosed costs on their listings so for the vast majority of us, these new guidelines are something that we've been abiding with for years!

Guests must be able to see the total price at check-out which has to include ALL fees, (cleaning and many more).
