We are new hosts. We have all 5 star reviews. The end of the 14-day review period is tomorrow.
This is the ai review with some additional details for the purposes of other hosts seeing the full picture:
The guests, who identified themselves as a professional group, did not maintain the property in an expected or respectful condition. Upon departure, the kitchen counters and surfaces were left covered with trash (like you could not see the counters), food and debris, pots and pans were not cleaned and remained dirty in the sink, in oven and on stove, and the refrigerator was not cleaned out. Bed linens were blood-stained and required replacement, while the bathroom walls had residue from hair products or other fluids. The patio had wine stains, and the exterior grounds contained discarded alcohol cans and other litter. The extensive cleanup required to restore the property to its original condition resulted in additional housekeeping fees. The guest did agree to contribute to the extra fee and apologized (I am not sure the person who booked was actually on property). The neighbors said it wasn't too loud -(it's a very very quiet neighborhood) , but there were a lot of cars coming and going.
There was no damage per se (no dents or dings that the housekeeper noticed).
I would not recommend this group for future bookings.
Things are slow in our area for bookings until May so I do not want to risk a retaliatory response and be penalized bc of their behavior. Since we are in the beginning stages of hosting, I don't want to be emotional about it. We do have high expectations because we live by the "leave it better than you found it" rule and probably over-clean and fuss when we borrow things and places.
Thank you!!!!

If a guest left the property in the condition you describe I would definitely be leaving them an honest review and be marking them down in their rating @Amy3639

Our very first guest did something similar to this. Greasy finger prints on all 3 levels of the house foot prints on tables walls and even the ceiling!! along with the rubbish and plates, pots and pans I was afraid of getting a bad review so I left them a good review (I did not understand the blind review system), I regret it to this day. Wish I gave an accurate 3 star.
Hello @Amy3639
Guests don't see the stars we award them for
So you can mark them down on these criteria and only the next hosts will see these marks.
Hi @Amy3639,
I'm sorry to hear there were some issues with your recent booking!
Helen, Tom and Joelle shared some advice on how they would approach reviewing guests in a similar situation. Did this help you decide how to proceed?
Please let us know if you have more questions 🙂
Thanks,
Emilie
