Review policy is a joke

The Airbnb policy is a joke.  A guest trashed our home then left a fraudulent review.  I reported the guest to Airbnb and they took over 2 weeks to finally reply.  They said they couldn’t remove the fraudulent review and I couldn’t get reimbursed for the cleaning costs.  Watch out guys, this is not the first time this happens and Airbnb doesn’t give a rip about its hosts.. they only care about their bottom line. I’m done with the

@Nicksixer0   Which of your two critical reviews from this year do you consider to be "fraudulent"? The one from the guest who you said in your review "left the place as they found it"? Or the one that you chose not to review, whose complaint about the unexpected pool service appears to be confirmed by your response?

Neither appears to fit violate the content policy for reviews, even if you feel they were inaccurate. But remember, the audience for your public response is future guests - it's not the place to comment on the reviewer. You could have done that in your review of the guests, had you written one.

@Nicksixer0  why are you not leaving reviews for your guests? This is the place to share your experience of hosting guests, particularly to help warn future hosts of negative guest behaviour.

I would say your response to your latest guest to her negative review would put me off from staying with you.  You lose the moral high ground when you chose not to review your guests,  as your response to her review, bringing up complaints you chose not to mention in a review,  now looks like sour grapes because she called you out on your pool service  and your wife turning up at the property without warning.

I agree with your guest,  if you are having a contractor attend the listing to clean the pool,  you should ensure they agree a day/approximate time so you can notify the guests in advance. I wouldn't want to stay somewhere knowing they could come onto the property at any time.  It's not good enough to say they have multiple place to clean so you don't know when they are coming.

I neglected to point out in my post that I did notify her of the pool service coming and she acknowledged by text.  Airbnb acknowledged that she received good notice but still upheld the negative review.  This is why I am considering renting on a different platform.  Yes my grapes are souring, and more lack of support on this community makes me want to leave Airbnb completely.  Thanks for your “help”.

@Nicksixer0  And exactly how are you "helping" other hosts when you don't bother to leave reviews or leave misleading ones?

Yah you’re right, and you’ve helped me make my decision to leave Airbnb easier.  Good work!  I’ll be changing to another platform that protects hosts… not gonna let myself get pimped out like this anymore, putting my goods on sale and having Airbnb and customers slap me around.

@Nicksixer0 Which platform do you plan to use going forward? From what I can see they are all equally bad (or good).

I joined Swimply.. I can make more $$ per rental and they don’t even spend the night…they just use the pool for a few hours then they’re gone.

Don’t worry, it applies to guests too. I had a stay where the listing totally misrepresented the reality of the space and the host was rude and unhelpful, and when i *privately* gave her feedback - publicly I gave her five stars but nicely mentioned the space was small for 4 , which it’s advertised for - she retaliated by completely fabricating a story that she “knew” I was going to be a difficult guest and was. Airbnb refuses to take it down though - so congrats Airbnb, you have a system where guests either have to just lie about their experiences in order to avoid negative reviews or, if they don’t care about that and want to be retaliatory, everyone can just make **bleep** up about each other with no recourse, since apparently all that violates your review guidelines is  outright discriminatory language. The reviews are a total sham, don’t  trust them.
