Hi,
When is the best time to leave a review?
Thank you
Do you mean as a host (reviewing a guest) @Luz688 ?
Are you planning to leave a positive or negative review - did something major go wrong during the stay?
Hi Shelly, I am a host and my recent guest left the place a mess- did not empty out the garbage, trash all over. No damage to the place thankfully. I want to be honest- on his profile most people gave him a positive review but there was one that had similar complaints to mine.
thank you for your feedback.
Luz
Hi @Luz688 - I'm just tagging @Shelley159 so they get a notification of your reply. Quick tip: if you type "@" and then the username, this will tag the member that you're replying to. 🤗
To me it doesn't sound like this is a situation where you're likely to get a bad, retaliatory review just because the guest sees that you've posted a review @Luz688 . As you know, they won't see your review until they've posted theirs, and they're probably unlikely to specifically expect a bad review. If you want to, you can check how they reviewed previous hosts.
If you worry, you could wait until day 14. Many hosts will advise that you shouldn't say too much - mention anything positive that you'd like to say, then briefly mention the problem in a very factual, unemotional way and without too much detail.
In addition (or instead of mentioning it in the text) you can mark down the cleanliness star grade. Guests don't see their stars.
Whenever I get annoyed about how someone left the place, I try to think about how bad things could potentially have been (based on some bad stories that I read in the Community center😃) before I review the guest. I'll admit that this sometimes makes me too positive in my reviews, but it also often helps to keep things in perspective.
Go to the booking and click the guest's profile @Luz688
Then click the profile of a host who reviewed the guest. If the host has many reviews, note the date of the review and change the reviews menu to sort them by date.
Hello @Luz688
If you want a far quicker method to check out a guests previous reviews, I discovered recently an external app called Rankbreeze/AirReview that is available on Google.
When you get a trip request via Airbnb, you will see under the guest profile, a link towards this guests reviews on all the properties they have been to.
It is free if you want it to do just the basics like check guest reviews, see how many times your listing appeared on the 1st page, adds to someone's wishlist, conversion rates etc. It also allows you to have the data of 5 properties of your choice per month. Great way to check out how your competitors are doing but it does restrict it's data to Airbnb though.
I love it and wished I'd known about it sooner! They have an amazing customer service too!
Thank you so much!
Then just leave an honest review now. As you know reviews are left blind, so it doesn't matter when you leave a review as long as it's within the two week slot. @Luz688
Thank you!
@Luz688 I would leave one as soon as the cleaning is complete. That way any 'hidden' issues will be apparent. Also the sooner the better if you plan to claim damages as you want the guest review written before you do so.
