Scam messages

I have received two messages tonight with someone inquiring about a time we have blocked, stating that their friend has our house booked.

what do you all do with situations like this? They are requesting a time to book, but stating they’re reaching out because they have someone trying to contact me.

I'm sorry but can you clarify?

Do you have a reservation already for certain dates and another person is messaging you wanted to book those same dates?

When someone who isn’t on the reservation reaches out, it’s best to protect yourself by only communicating with the verified guest. Politely let them know that, for safety and policy reasons, all communication must go through the person who made the booking or someone listed on the reservation. Here's a message you can copy and paste if you'd like:

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out. For safety and Airbnb policy reasons, I can only discuss reservation details or anything related to the property with the person listed on the booking. If you'd like to be added to the reservation, please ask your friend (the primary guest) to update the reservation accordingly. Thanks for your understanding!

Hi @Sherri326

This is rather unusual! Have you managed to find out more since yesterday?

Joan and Lisa have shared some pointers and questions to help you get to the bottom of it. Once you've had a chance to take a look, we'd love to hear how the situation has progressed! 🙂

Thanks,

Emilie
