I don’t think the inquiry itself is necessarily a red flag. From what you described, it sounds like they may be from another country and are relocating, so they’re probably trying to find a place that works for them while they get settled.
Finding the right long-term home in a new country isn’t always easy. Most traditional leases require a one-year commitment, which can be difficult when someone is still learning the area, figuring out their work situation, or deciding which neighborhood and type of property suits them best.
That could be why they’re considering Airbnb for six months. It gives them a temporary home and some flexibility while they take their time finding the right place to rent or buy without being locked into a one-year lease.
Of course, I would still do your normal due diligence, verify their identity, ask about the purpose of the stay, and make sure everything is clearly communicated before accepting the booking. But based on the inquiry alone, I wouldn’t automatically consider it a red flag. It could simply be someone looking for a flexible transition period while relocating.
