Security Deposit

Security Deposit

Hello,

im looking for some advice.

we have a guest staying on 19th -21st June. We have requested a £100 security deposit, that will be fully refunded once the van has been checked over after their stay. However the guest is scared to pay the deposit incase we don’t refund her back.

Obviously we will send a total refund if the van is ok after their stay. Is there anything I can say to put the guests mind at rest. Iam reluctant to cancel their stay. Iam also keen to seek advice to make sure we are following & are fully compliant with Airbnb rules.

thank you

Hi @Stacey604

Airbnb generally does not allow hosts to collect a separate security deposit directly from guests. There are some exceptions for hosts using API-connected software, where a security deposit may be permitted, but it must be clearly disclosed in the listing and house rules so guests are informed before booking.

If damage occurs during a stay, hosts typically have several options: they can request reimbursement directly from the guest through Airbnb’s Resolution Center, rely on AirCover for Hosts if eligible, or file a claim with their own home or rental insurance policy if applicable.
