Hi everyone! I’d love your advice on complimentary items for guests staying a week or more. Currently, I provide daily breakfast, a mineral water bottle each day, free cleanup of room and bathroom on every second day, and a snack board at check-in. Do you think I’m going the extra mile, or is there anything else I’m expected to provide on a daily basis? Your insights would mean a lot!
Thanks

This sounds more like a bed-and-breakfast style setup and quite a bit of effort! In the long run, it might become exhausting if you want the place to run more independently. For a week-long stay, this would mean being there daily to provide breakfast. Do you charge extra for it, or is it more of a surprise treat?
Personally, I usually leave a bottle of wine or a jar of candy for guests. If they’re not into wine, they just leave it, but they always appreciate the gesture. I remember how much my husband and I enjoyed a complimentary bottle of wine while traveling and staying in an Airbnb, it really made our stay feel special!
Of course, @Ms--Iffat01!
Did you find the links I attached in my last message useful? Let me know if you have any questions about them.🙂
Hi there my fellow host,
I was late to this party, but I love your enthusiasm for long-stay guests. I agree, you are going above and beyond. I would say keep a budget and don't make mistakes like I do by doing too much ! 🙂 Most importantly, make sure it doesn't burn you out as it can happen longer term. A lot of hosts like you and I put a lot more effort into community and the social aspect of hosting, than any profit. I would say I commend you for that, but make sure you don't exhaust yourself and wish you all the best on your hosting journey.
Rose.
Hi @Rose422 ,
Thank you for your thoughtful advice! Hosting is all about building community, and your reminder to maintain balance is truly appreciated. It’s easy to get carried away, but I’ll keep your wise words in mind.
It’s wonderful to connect with a fellow host who values the experience beyond profit. Wishing you all the best on your hosting journey!
Take care,
Iffat
Thanks @Ms--Iffat0 ,
I also wish you all the best and likewise, lovely connect to a fellow host on a different corner of the planet.

@Ms--Iffat0. There are lots of ways to offer breakfasts remote to free you up : think long life milk, water bottles and individual cereal and tea and coffee packs. A week or more some fresh fruit and maybe eggs and some local non perishable treats if the budget allows.
For longer stay guests I focus on getting the basics right: hot water, all appliances work and good internet. Cleaning is something you negotiate but leaving a few cleaning aids such as broom, dustpan, cloths and washing up liquid and many great guests will look after it without you needing to be there during their stay.
Its important to set expectations and be careful about over delivering services as this can get mentioned in a review then future guests get disappointed when they dont get the same. 🙂
Hello @Frances3408
Thank you for sharing such practical hosting advice! I love your approach to offering breakfast options remotely. it’s a simple yet thoughtful way to enhance the guest experience.
Focusing on essentials like hot water, reliable appliances, and strong internet makes a huge difference for long-term stays. Your cleaning strategy is smart too, providing supplies while trusting guests to maintain the space strikes a great balance.
You make an excellent point about setting expectations. Over-delivering can set unrealistic standards for future guests, so consistency is key.
I appreciate the wisdom—wishing you smooth and successful hosting!

Greetings Ms Iffat0
Sounds like you have received some great information and nuggets to work on. Yes, you are in an area that by you providing those amenities surely people will not just like but beg for it. It is enticing to stay there just for the breakfast!!! Is it extra for daily breakfast? Seemed like it wasn’t, maybe that can be an option. We provide, coffee (24 pods) cream, sugar, travel size soap, mouthwash, toothpaste and a reg size toothbrush, paper towels , toilet tissue, spring water ( 5 gallon jug) washing pods (3) and cascade pods (3) olive oil and salt n pepper and other dry seasonings. When we get a guest who stays for a month, all paper items are not replaced during their stay. The only thing we will replace is the water. Small gestures go a long way. Thx ☺️
Hello @Mitzi40
Thank you for sharing your thoughtful hosting insights! I completely agree—small gestures make a big impact on guest experience.
As for breakfast, it has always been free, but I’ve decided to end this offer since it’s becoming too exhausting to maintain. While I love creating a welcoming space, I realize balance is important too!
I appreciate your advice and generosity in hosting. Wishing you continued success!
Best,
Iffat
