We’ve been Superhosts for nearly 12 years, and we’ve just discovered—by accident—that guest phone numbers are no longer available in reservations.
We were never informed of this change.
This is not a minor inconvenience for us. Our check-in requires meeting guests and escorting them into the property. Knowing arrival time is essential. In our experience, many guests do not monitor Airbnb messages after booking—but they do respond quickly to a simple text.
Just this week:
A guest didn’t respond to multiple Airbnb messages about arrival time
We tried to text—blocked
Support confirmed phone numbers are no longer provided
We had to rely on Airbnb to contact the guest for us
This adds delays, uncertainty, and makes it difficult to manage even basic scheduling.
Questions for other hosts:
Are you seeing the same thing?
How are you handling arrival coordination now?
And for Airbnb:
Why was this not clearly communicated to long-time Superhosts, and what is the expected solution for hosts who require real-time coordination?
This feels like a major operational change with no workable alternative. Would appreciate hearing how others are dealing with this.
