Superhost

Hi, We have a one bedroom cottage that we let between May and October.  We do not advertise outside Airbnb and have a limited amount of bookings.  The reviews have been very good, 5* of which we are proud. The problem is that we have not collected enough bookings to become a Superhost even though each review is 5* (we have 6 so far).  Given that we close on the 18th October, what happens to the current reviews? Do we start from scratch again next May?

In order to become a Super Host on Airbnb, hosts must have the following: a minimum 4.8 average rating, a 90% response rate (to inquiries, booking requests or initial messages from guests), less than 1% cancellations and at least 10 bookings in the previous 12 months.

Airbnb evaluates all hosts every three months (January, April, July, and October) to determine Superhost eligibility and will automatically award you the Superhost badge if you fulfill those requirements.

Since you only have 6 reviews, you do not qualify until you have hosted at least 10 bookings in 1 year. Usually when people start off it is recommended to lower your minimum stay so you may hit the requisite 10 bookings/year and also to get a bunch of good reviews on your listing. Seasonal listings such as yours may be harder to hit the Superhost requirements because of the limited  months that you host.

Also per that link it states that you are evaluated from the date of the review to one year prior to meeting the requirements. So  in your case it would be from Oct 2026 to Oct 2025 for the quarterly review coming up in October.

“Qualification is automatically evaluated every 3 months (“qualification period”) on the first day of every calendar quarter (“review date”). If a host satisfies the performance standards and other qualifications for the most recent 12 months from the review date, then the host is automatically eligible to become a Superhost for the qualification period. (For example, if the review date is on July 1, 2014, then a host’s performance from the most recent previous 12 months from July 1, 2014 is measured.)”

We have a review dated 21st September - would that count?

@Kath6641 Yes, all reviews till the review date count. I think the Superhost calculation occurs on the first of the quarter, so 10/1 is the next time Superhost badges are evaluated and awarded.
