I have spent 2 weeks just trying to obtain a refund for a 2 night stay at a backhouse booked thru AirBnB when and intruder enter into our backhouse in the middle of the night so we left and had to find lodgings elsewhere at 5am!!!. After much work on my part and finally getting the host to call me so I could explain to her that at 3am a strange man walked into the backhouse while we were dead asleep and was mumbling, wailing his arms around. My husband jumped into action and chased him out and the intruder ran into the front house and closed that door while we slammed our door and called the police. Terrifying! The intruder left the front house with a backpack and hat on ( not wearing those things when he entered our unit) while we sat in shock still in our unit waiting on the police. The police got the Co-host to come out and Co-host claimed he didn't know the intruder, the entire thing was creepy and weird and no way could we go back to sleep and we no longer felt safe there. So we left and asked the Host for a refund. She agreed to refund us and was very apologetic but she only refunded me the portion she obtained thru AirBnB. Air BnB keeps refusing to refund me the portion they kept!! I am shocked that AirBnB will not do the right thing and refund us the rest of our stay. We are so so grafteful we were not harmed but I am in more shock that AirBnb wont honor our request for a full refund, its the right thing to do!! They are making money when an crime was committed here. Any advise here on how I get the rest of our refund?
