Why do hosts lies about leaving a review?

Stayed at the Belvedere Lodge outside of Baltimore and after departing I received a message from the host saying he gave me a 5 star review, and would I also leave him a 5 star review. I did, but he didn’t leave me a review at all. I asked him about it but received no response. Then I’m talking with family in the area who also have friends that stayed there and the same thing happened.

@Linda4310 quite simply because there are bad hosts out there just as there are bad guests. Hopefully this practice and other bad practices will eventually backfire on the bad hosts and they will leave Airbnb.

The host is simply hustling for top reviews; no honest host would ever resort to this sleazy bazaar 'shell game'.
