Hi Community,
My guest reserved my apartment for 1 person. Recently I discovered from doorbell records that he brought 5 more people to my apartment without any permission. And my listing allow max 4 people. What should be my reaction? I am new in the hosting. Don't have an experience.
It depends if the Guest is still there, your first step is to communicate with the Guest,
I always communicate on the platform.
I also suggest don't mention camera evidence. Cameras always cause issues for the Host even if legit and really doesn't matter why you have a question just that you do.
Politely just ask I have been informed that possibly there was more traffic then expected of one person in unit, are there additional parties in your stay?
Hi @Taleh3,
You can start by checking your house rules to ensure they clearly state the maximum occupancy limit and any policies regarding additional guests. Next, message the guest through Airbnb's platform to address the situation politely but firmly. Mention that your listing allows a maximum of four guests and that any additional guests require prior approval.
Request clarification on the situation and remind them of your house rules. If the guest doesn't respond or comply, you can escalate the issue by contacting Airbnb support to report the violation.
Ensure you have evidence, such as the doorbell footage, to support your claim. Keep all communication professional and within the Airbnb platform to maintain a record of your interactions.
I hope this helps.
All the best,
Upfish Management
Hi @Taleh3,
Thank you for asking our community for advice, it's a great space to get the help you need, even more so as a new host!
Did you get a chance to read the suggestions from Marie and Alicia? It would be great to know how the situation is unfolding, keep us updated if you can. 🙂
Have a lovely day,
Emilie

I appreciate everyone's valuable suggestions. I've noted the feedback regarding mentioning the camera footage and will refrain from bringing it up in the future.
Regarding the guest situation, the guest assured me that the visitors were his relatives who came over after attending a party elsewhere. He emphasized that they did not use the beds. I brought this up because the visit occurred at an unusual time, around 3 AM, which led to some misunderstanding. However, I'm pleased to inform you that we've resolved the issue amicably.
I have set a maximum occupancy limit and policies regarding additional guests already in place. Also, I've been considering whether it's best to remove the mention of the security camera from my listing. I’d appreciate any thoughts or suggestions on this matter, as I aim to maintain transparency while ensuring guests feel comfortable and secure.
@Taleh3
According to Airbnb regulations, you are required to disclose cameras.
Your listing will be closed if you fail to do so.
It's actually not a camera, it's a smart doorbell.
