getting my ID validated

Airbnb won't accept a photograph of my passport for validation of ID. I send the photo of my passport. I let them take a photo of me. Then they respond by saying my passport isn't acceptable as validation for my ID as it's a copy.

The only other official ID that we have are our Irish identify cards called the PPS cards and the photos on these are really bad. Anybody got any suggestions. We've used airbnb for at least 10 years without any problems but this new ID regime is impossible. Thank you, Tricia

Tips for Retaking and Uploading the Passport Photo

1. Use your phone camera in good natural light (not a scan app).
2. Lay the physical passport flat and capture the entire photo page, including the bottom MRZ lines.
3. Avoid glare, shadows, or reflections.
4. Hold steady and make sure text is readable and nothing is obscured.
5. Upload it directly via the Airbnb app or browser when prompted.

Try a Different Device or Browser

Some users had success when they:

• Switched from phone to laptop or vice versa.
• Used a different browser (Chrome or Safari often works best).
• Cleared cache 

Some had luck uploading via Airbnb desktop instead of app.

Others got through by using an EU driver’s license.
