no availability when properties show available

I have tried to book several times at different places, with different hosts in Kauai at properties that show available and are not.  It's super frustrating.  To the point now that I will no longer be using Air BnB... Can this PLEASE be fixed?

Can you clarify? When you look at the listing the calendar appears open and lets you enter specific dates, but then when you send a request to book the Host states it's not available? What does the Host say when they respond to your request to book?

I do believe there are lots of restrictions for Short Term Rentals in Hawaii that require the Host to only allow certain length of stays and number of days rented in a calendar year.

Hi @Penny507

I'm sorry to hear you're finding it difficult to book a listing!

As Joan explained, it would be very helpful if you could tell us a bit more about what exactly is happening. In which way are the properties not available in the end?

I look forward to hearing from you. 🙂

Thanks,

Emilie

Hello Emilie,

My name is Sabrina, and I am experiencing the same problem. To clarify further, the listings are active in the exact dates selected. There is no explanation about a length requirement, and I am trying to book for a week in February (which feels like it would be long enough for a minimum requirement). I have tried to book at three different listings, with three different hosts, at properties in different parts of the island. Airbnb allows me to make the request, accepts my payment (but doesn’t charge yet), and says the host has 24 hours to respond. After waiting nearly a day each time, I received the following message:

“The property is not available at this time. The inventory changes daily, so if anything becomes available, I will circle back.”

Two hosts sent the exact same message, the other responded with “I’m so sorry, it isn’t available .”

After the first time this happened, I followed up with the other two hosts and asked for clarification because I’ve never had an issue with Airbnb, and I only have 5 star reviews, so I couldn’t understand.  No one has responded.

Like the original poster, I am getting very frustrated and looking towards Vrbo or hotel options because this is getting frustrating as it’s

wasting my time, day after day, looking up different accommodations that work, just to be repeatedly denied.

I would love more information about why this is happening, and a way to solve this problem. Thank you for your help.
