requesting names of additional guests

Hi all -

I can't seem to find the way to request the booking party to share the names of the other people who will be joining the reservation. Can someone direct me please? I searched all over the Help Center and must not be using the correct key words for my search.

Please and thank you!

Ellen

Add it to your house rules.

When they book request it in your welcome message if they haven't provided it.

You will probably need to do a lot of chasing for the information  with fair few of your guests:)

I am wondering if it is a hosting menu option. As a guest I have had to list the people accompanying me. It looked like a form to fill out, not somethiing that the host and I messaged about back and forth.

HI @Ellen372  - were you ever able to figure this out?  I have also had to do this as a guest and would like to require my guests to do this automatically without having to message back and forth. Thanks!

Hi! No, I never figured it out. I have to ask them to fill out the information which sees annoying and intrusive. I think it should be automatic.

Do you want the full names specifically @Ellen372? Or is having the other guests linked with their Airbnb profiles what you want? Because unless you specifically request the booking guest to supply full names directly to you, you won't get them any other way. Add the names requirement to your house rules.

To add other guests to a reservation, the booking guest invites them. They go to 'Trips' then select 'Guests' and 'Invite' then they will add the email address of the people they want to share with.

Ok, thank you, Collen. I will go into my house rules and add that requirement. For the current request I assume it's too late but going forward it will be helpful. Thanks!

You might want to clarify that Airbnb doesn't share other guest info with hosts, @Ellen372 . I've had a few guests get slightly impatient with me asking, because I believe Airbnb gathers this info when they book, so until I clarified, I would get guests wondering why they need to 'do this all over again' and I'd feel like I'm pestering them.  Once they understand, they tend to think it's completely retarded that Airbnb keeps hosts in the dark. I  have to agree. And it's embarrassing. Thanks Airbnb 😒

Before you ask for the names, @Ellen372 , just do a quick check to make sure they haven't already inputted them. It isn't immediately apparent. Go to the reservation -- looking at it on the side of the inbox thread is fine -- and click on "2 adults" (or 3 or whatever number it is). It often just says the guest's name and "Guest 2", but if they have invited that other guest, the name will show up there. It doesn't appear anyplace else until review time.
