Hi

I have just had my first bad review as a guest and I am mystified as I thought both host and guest wrote independent reviews then both were posted?

I did my review and within minutes had my hosts not so nice review plus a private message saying " I'm not surprised by your low rating
Despite my acceptance of refunds.Hence my bad review also for you.
It's not very cordial of you, because I could have declined your date change."

I would be happy to explain the whole story ( and i felt i was writing an honest review) but would first like to understand how they knew my review was 4/5 not 5/5?

Hi Georgette, not very  tactful or diplomatic of the host but, there was obviously a situation with the Air/con during the stay that lead the host to think you were going to downrate them with your review.....but you didn't, you were very diplomatic and, the sort of guest I would like to host.

The hosts did not see your review first! The moment you submit your review, if the host has already submitted theirs, both become visible immediately on each others profile. It happens within seconds.

My feeling is, your host Anna and Elizabeth are  probably eating their words right now  because, although you did give them a 4 star (which isn't bad) you wrote them a lovely review....one any host would be pleased to get!

Anyone reading both of those reviews will think what a reasonable guest you were and, what a prickly turkey that host is.

They have done themselves far more harm than good with that review, I would be quiet happy to let that one sit Georgette, it shows you in a good light!

That is a monumental illustration of how a host should not use the review process.

You never pre- judge what might be said. If you're  in doubt, keep the review neutral so you don't look like an idiot once the reviews are published.

Georgette, we are not fools, we can sort out the wheat from the chaff!

Cheers..........Rob

Hi Rob

Thank you so much for the reply, I feel much better now plus confident in the review process 🙂

I was tempted to politely reply to the hosts as I was a bit upset and shocked especially as I did not ask for a refund and never intended to do so ( and I was quite clear in my communication that was my intention) but when they offered I accepted

Thanks to your kind words I have decided to just move on and ignore the message

Regards

Georgette
