zero review

I had a zero review person asked to use my house for a family gathering for a total of 6 for a funeral.  There was no funeral - instead there was a party at my house at all hours of the night.  The security camera went off every 5 seconds - people coming and going and playing loud and offensive music in the middle of the night.  The first night this happened, I thought about calling the police but I was concerned that the group would retaliate and trash my home.  Instead I sent the "guest" a message indicating there was a maximum of 6 in my home and I also sent her an extra guest fee hoping that would temper them for the next night.  But no - the same thing happened the next night - probably a total of 20 to 25 coming to my home at all hours of the night.  Again, I definitely should have called the police in retrospect but I was so distraught and concerned they would trash my house  I guess a trashed house would have been better than losing the friendship of all my neighbors.  The cleaners found evidence of smoking, pot residue, liquor bottles and party games in my home when they showed up,

Bottom line - I have decided to get out of the Airbnb business.  I had 5 guests who were great - and was really enjoying the platform until the 6th guest checked in.   For anyone considering hosting a zero review person, think long and hard.  My instincts told me not to but I thought everyone has to start somewhere.  Should have listened to my inner voice.

@Annie2083

Sorry to read about your bad experience.

There is an article about "Tips to help prevent parties at your property":

https://www.airbnb.com/resources/hosting-homes/a/tips-to-help-prevent-parties-at-your-property-223

I assume the "no-party"-rule was on your listing ?

You also could have contacted Airbnb when things went out of control.

I see your listing is not on your profile anymore.

But if you decide to continue hosting, then use the tips in the article to prevent parties, and maybe "listen to your inner voice" is the best thing to do before accepting a booking.

Hi @Annie2083 😊

I’m really sorry this happened to you!

It sounds incredibly stressful and upsetting, especially when you were trying to protect your home and your neighbors.

Have you been able to reach out to Airbnb customer support to report what happened and see what options might still be available?
