Dear All,
I have a question for you. I wanted to rent an apartment for a long terme lease (1-2 years) and i found an apartment on a local website of renting (Not Airbnb), after few emails exhcanged with the owner I receive this answer. Is this a common practice for you? because its seems quite strange and I have the feeling that is a tentative of scam.
"In general I have rented the apt. with AirBnB , as they are the largest rental website in the world and they offer protection both to the guests and to the renters in this type of transactions.
If you are ready to proceed with the viewing process, i need to inform you how this works.
1 - To start the process i will need your info (full name, delivery address and a cell phone number where you can be reached).
2. I will contact Airbnb and i will request a reservation application for my apartment . Once they will approve my case , you will receive a notification with the transaction details .
3. When you will receive the notification , you will have to transfer a temporary payment guarantee (one month of rent + the security deposit) to Airbnb . The deposit will be just a formality, and it will not commit you to rent my apartment. Your payment will remain in the custody of Airbnb until you will check the apartment and move in .
4. After you will pay the deposit and Airbnb will send me confirmation, i will go to DHL and i will send you the keys of the apartment with the contract attached. I will use the DHL 1 Day Delivery service so you can be able to receive the keys in 1-2 days. Or i can buy a flight ticket to show you the apartment personally.
5. If you will like my apartment, you will sign the contract and you will be able to move when you desire . If you will decide to don't rent it ,Airbnb will refund your full payment . "
If you could help me with your fedback, I will really appreciate it.
Thanks
Emanuele
