Bad Host

Bad Host

@Cloud1  you are the worst company ever.. Cloud9 company never refunded me the money from the deposit that I gave for an apartment that I was renting for 3 months and after paying almost $20000 to them

@Christina1408  What was the cancellation policy when you booked it? Did you purchase trip insurance? You really should purchase trip insurance with Airbnb, since hosts typically cannot provide the same flexibility as hotels.

They made my reservation out of airbnb, so I can not do anything now!

@Christina1408 Slightly confused - Who is the worst company ever? Not sure it is Airbnb's fault as you booked off-platform. Also not sure why you are complaining here about Cloud9 as none of us have heard of them.

Obviously I mean that I found the apartment from airbnb but they made me the reservation out of it.. So this company (cloud9) does exist here and the reason that I am complaining is  because I can not write a bad review since I am not considered to be a renter in the platform..

@Christina1408 Try Yelp... and also Try Google Reviews. Leave a review on those sites, Also you can try and have one of your friends book a 1 day reservation on AirBnb and then leave a bad review and explain your situation, tell people what happened. Yes it will cost you money, but at least you can get the word out and warn others not to book off platform with them.

@Christina1408 OK so you chose not to book via Airbnb, got burnt and are now complaining. Wow.

Is the listing still on Airbnb? If so you can report the listing to Airbnb and they may take some action.

Probably you haven’t understood the reason I am writing.. I am complaining so other people be aware of the situation and not choose them.. The listing is still on Airbnb and I have already reported it.

You didn’t get your deposit back, but you did have accommodation, correct @Christina1408?  Airbnb doesn’t actually hold a deposit, so I suspect that’s the exact reason this host got you to book off-platform.

You are completely right! Cloud9 was the one who told me to book off-platform!

Lesson learned, right @Christina1408?  Don't go off-platform if you ever use Airbnb again.  Also consider sticking to superhosts, largely because they have a better record at ensuring guest satisfaction.

@Ann72 I have close to 3000 completed reservations and im not a superhost. There are plenty of hosts on AirBnb who have excellent places and they arent super hosts. Ive cancelled plenty of people who have violated my rules.

@Nina75  Good point, and it illustrates how guest-centric this metric is (which is why I said "consider").  The threat of losing SH status makes too many hosts kowtow to guests they should come down on hard.  This forum would have far fewer entries if that weren't so.  Anyway, elsewhere I've noted that the most important factor in looking at a superhost is response time, and besides, I think you're a super host 🙂

@Christina1408 They may have told you to book off-platform BUT WHY DID YOU?
