Cleaning Help - Lawrence, KS

Hello Lawrence, KS community,

My wife and I are new AirBnB hosts in Lawrence, KS.   We have hired a local cleaner to be our primary at our location, but she is also new to the AirBnB world.  We have had a very hard time communicating just how thorough she needs to be on the turns and presentation of the home.  She is still learning English, so that does make communicating difficult.  We really want to give her the best chance we can before we move on to someone else.

We wanted to ask the Lawrence, KS community if there was a host, who had a great cleaner, who would be willing to ask their cleaner if they could train ours (as well as us) for a turn or two?  Our cleaner speaks Portuguese as her primary language.   We are not looking to poach your cleaner, but just asking for someone who is a great professional in the business to train our new team member.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Ian Barnes

@Ian37857  I found it very beneficial to clean a property one or two times WITH my cleaner, showing her what I expected.  This also gave me a good picture of how long a turnover would take so that the cleaner could expect a certain wage.

It took several months before my cleaner and I were satisfied with the turnover process.  She showed me where too much time could be spent, allowing me to remove objects that were troublesome (knickknacks and extra decor) and me showing her how I wanted certain rooms presented (towels in bathrooms, pillows and throws on beds).

Would it not be easier Ian for you to find a cleaner who speaks your language and has experience of doing turnovers for short term rentals. @Ian37857

You can ask on your local host group for recommendations for cleaners with relevant experience.

Alternatively you could put together a room by room checklist for your cleaner of what needs to be done to help ensure she cleans and prepares the listing to the standard you require and have this translated into Portuguese if you want to retain your current cleaner.

I would suggest you or your local cohost is there to do the first clean with your cleaner to show her the ropes.
