Hello,
Im looking for keyless lock recommendations for multiple units. We have done lots of research and keep finding issues with either Wi-Fi connections being bad or battery life issues.
What is everyone else using? Would you recommend it to someone or what would you recommend?
All advice is appreciated!
Thanks

- Wifi's been fine cuz it requires its own hub that connects to your wifi router via ethernet. Don't like the extra hardware but as long as it's out of the way, wifi is not a problem
- Battery life is bad. I think they all are, and this one may be on the worse side. But the app tells you battery life remaining so you can manage it.
- Connecting to audio/video is always painfully slow, like 6 seconds to open.
- It has tons of security features, but they reach a point of being just too extra. Like all codes a 6 DIGITS, 4 is not allowed. And the numbers on the screen change location each time someone accesses (so someone can't figure out the code by seeing fingerprint smudges.
- It's not super intuitive to unlock as a guest cuz after the code you gotta touch the unlock icon at the bottom of the screen, which is actually a fingerprint icon rather than an unlock icon.
- It's also expensive. But I chose it cuz the new black matte is GORGEOUS. We use the fingerprint biometric at home, but I don't set that up for guests.
- But one thing you'll like for multiple units, is Lockly FINALLY added the ability to transfer access codes and identities from one lock to another. For some reason it doesn't allow fingerprints transfer (yet).
So altho there are a lot of drawbacks, ultimately the biometric plus 1080p video plus the look was what convinced me.

Perhaps @Debra300 or @Margaret491 have some new insights as well so I'll tag them and ask if they might stop by 😊
Thanks for tagging me @Breanna. We use both the Schlage Encode, August and Wyze locks at our rentals, and I prefer the Schlage because the lock, keypad, and gateway are in one piece of gear. August and Wyze are remote locking mechanisms for existing deadbolt locks, and they require a separate keypad and a plug-in gateway to connect to the internet. This can be considered a negative or positive because there are separate pieces to repair/replace, if necessary.
All three lock systems use four batteries, and their lifespan depends upon the amount of usage. In my experience, we change batteries every 4 to 6 months. We leave extra batteries in the rentals just in case we are not on-site, and provide a YouTube how-to video link to the guests when the lock batteries need replacement.
Thanks Breanna,
We in the UK tend to lean towards the Nuki setup as price wise for the kit required we find it very competitive.
WIFI and Bluetooth is built into the device so no need for any extras on site and we can arrange your entire auto messaging setup and auto booking via Airbnb so no need to self manage we can automate everything using this system.
The device comes with an external keypad and fits over any existing door lock so no need to change your door or make any cut-outs or remove anything existing from the doors.
The device is designed to sit over the internal side of you door and utilises your existing cylinder and key to turn your door into a smart door. We always recommend placing a keypad on the external as some customers don't wish to use a mobile phone for access and prefer a code entry.
You can operate the property from anywhere in world and issue key codes or app access at anytime and can use access schedules. We also recommend teaming up your smart lock with a smart sensor device which can monitor things like noise, mould, smoke, vaping and alert you to your mobile of these problems. A life saver to protect your property and should you need to protects the booking deposits to be utilised for any repairs.
Lastly you maintain key override capabilities - so if you do run out of battery (full charge is 6 months use) then you can still access the property without having to call a locksmith!!
Always happy to help should you need it - we specialise in helping people setup in all elements of your rental property journey.
