Stained sofa

Hi all x my guest has stained our sofa - what do you do in this situation?

Sorry your sofa is stained! How frustrating!

What would I do? It depends on the stain. First I'd do my best to clean it myself, after finding out what it is. I keep a variety of cleaning items, especially for upholstery issues, and for our leather recliner chair...they've all worked well for me in the past.  If the type of stain is not obvious, I'd ask the guest for help, respectfully, of course. A good source for information is always online, from my cleaning help, and the local dry cleaners,  who always know these things. A stain on anything is cost of doing business imho, and a learning experience for me. In the past decades I've learned a lot of tricks around stains - including food and candy tucked in the couch.

Best of luck to you with this, and please let us know the results!

Hi @Rebekah189 and welcome to the Community!

I just wanted to pop in and give you a link to this page (which I'm sure you already know about): Host damage protection.

Since you might be reaching out here to get some first-hand advice from other Hosts, I'll tag in some of the CC's most experienced hosts and see if they've have experience with this.

@Helen744 @Kitty-and-Creek0 @Inna22 What would you do in this situation?

@Rebekah189 there are a broad range of stains Rebekah and a broad range of sofas. Maybe be a bit more specific , having said that it is always a good idea to apply a fabric protector to your material sofas and lots of people only use leather or a facsimile as its easier to keep clean. You could apply to the guest for an extra cleaning payment for the stain if it has caused fading or a permanent mark but generally most hosts will tell you not to have belongings in the house that either you would regret losing or would be very expensive to replace. Also you can upload photos to Airbnb and see if your costs will be covered by Airbnb insurance... H
