Windows must have curtains/blinds?

I am new to being an Airbnb Host. Someone who has been a host for a long time told me that every single windows in my house need to install curtains/blinds? Is this a real Airbnb rule? I tried looking online to find this rule but I couldn’t find any related guidelines.

As an Airbnb host, ensuring guest comfort is paramount, and window treatments play a significant role in this. While there isn't a strict Airbnb rule mandating curtains or blinds on every window, many hosts have found that providing them, especially blackout options in bedrooms, enhances guest satisfaction. Guests often appreciate the added privacy and light control, leading to better reviews and repeat bookings. For those looking to upgrade their window treatments, US Shutters and Blinds offers a wide range of customizable options to suit various styles and needs.

Hi @Cindy1603 ,

great question and some very good feedback too.  I would add the following idea:

- we have a combo approach to our window treatments - bedrooms and bathrooms are all blackout/privacy blinds. Kitchen & living room windows look out at a lake view and do not have any type of covering, they do not look into another dwelling either so the lack of privacy here is less of an issue and hasn't caused any concerns for us or our guests.

- we have also deployed a 'privacy film' in a few windows where the lower part of the window needs privacy but the upper does not need to be covered and is left bare to let in natural light. We use this method in our laundry room and another space where the natural light is welcome (not a sleeping area) but privacy is needed and we didn't wish to cover the entire window with any sort of material (fabric or otherwise). So this solution is a nice solution. The film is easy to apply and you can just google some options. It isn't permanent and can be easily removed and doesn't damage the frame or glass in any way.
