Hello,

I contact you because I am very unhappy with a booking I made through Airbnb.

I am a host on your website since 3 years, me and my friends always used airbnb to book places to stay during our hollidays.

I just arrived in Mexico city two weeks ago. We started to book a nice appartement with two of my friends on calle Durango and the place was exactly as described, we really enjoyed our time their and decided to book an other place for one month with airbnb because I trust in your compagny.

We found the appartement of Ivan Zuniga well decorated and described as calm, in a quiet street. We foud an arrangement on the price, 1235 euros (airbnb taxes included) from the 27th march to the 24th April.

The problem is that when we arrived in the appartement we instantly realized that the street was not quiet as he said and that the appartement was really noisy.

Indeed the building is just next to a big road and we can hear and feel the go and back of the cars and trucks. Its hot in Mexico at this period and it was absolutly impossible to open the windows because of the noise. In front of the appartement they build a building which is very noisy, once again.

Moreover I have to say that there is a cat who stayed with us in the appartement, we didn’t really had the choice to keep him with us. The cat is cute but meowing all the time, all night, jumping on the bed, and loosing his hairs.

We explained all this problem to Ivan and he seemed very undrstanding. The probleme is that his condition to refound his guest is very strict, so the refound of our cash couldn’t pass by air bnb. He told me that he wrote to you and that somebody suggest him to refound us the money, excepted the cost of the two nights we stayed and the cost of the cleaning. We make a deal and I canceled the reservation.

The day after Ivan arrived at the appartement and explained to us that he wanted to keep, in more of the 128 euros that we were agree to pay, 22% of the full price for the taxes he have to pay to his state at the end of the year.

We were really surprised and told him that it was not fair at all because once again he didn’t warm us of this situation. I told him that I could understand that we share this taxes because I am an honest person, we make a deal. The problem is that he didn’t had the money with him. As he told me that is grand mother was in the hospital and that he really had to go to visit her, I said that he could meet us the day after (Wednesday 30th march) to give us the rest of the money he owns us : 2500 pesos.

 

The last time I heard from him he explains to me that it was not him but his owner who where renting the place and that he was trying to find a solution to give us our money back but that it was a very complicated situation. Since this message I did’t had news from Ivan.

 

I contact you because I am sure you don’t want to have this kinfd of hosts and that you are as shocked than I am after reading this story.

 

I hope you can help me to find a solution with this problem. We are in mexico for 4 months and we already lost the money of the taxes of the reservation (120 euros) + this 2500 pesos + the time the move in/move out, visit other places…

It’s a desaster for us, I am sure you can understand me.

 

I am waiting to hear from you and really hope that you will help us to fix this situation and propose us a good solution.
