@Airbnb

Yes! Love video messaging and started using as soon as it was available.

So far have used short videos on how to use the smart locks. Works great and eliminated most of the issues guests were having.

I’m so happy to hear that the video messages have been helpful for guests using the smart locks, @Joan2709 !

Are there any additional topics you’re considering for video messages? @Dr-Jayanthi1  shared an amazing list of ideas she plans to cover in her videos. I’m curious if you have any similar items on your list, or is there something unique you'd like to include?

@Bhumika

We might create one on how to properly use a large, wood-burning fireplace?

Maybe also on how to properly turn on/off propane for the BBQ - many don't turn the valve off at the propane tank and we end up with empty tanks.

Good one @Joan2709 ! These are definitely must have videos, especially considering guest and listing safety 👏

Before video messages, how did you typically share information about these amenities and their best uses with guests? Did you include details in the check-in manual, or would you send a separate message?

@Bhumika

We added info about the fireplace to check-in message and House Manual.

Turning off Propane we added to check-out message and House Manual.

Hi Joan I’m not seeing the options available. Can you help me find them please.  Usually I receive an email to try out new host features first but have not seen anything come thru.

@Airbnb  I haven't made a video yet however very excited about being able to provide them for various directions especially the door locks.

Sounds like a plan @Karen114 ! Are there any common issues guests have with the lock or directions of your listing? I am keen to hear what made you think about creating a video message for door locks!

@Bhumika  yes the lock is a perennial problem across all units.  The lock is not difficult it's just that people don't read or comprehend what they read 🙄

I read in another group the host had a video showing how to work the lock and the guest was inputting the code the host was using in the video 😲

@Karen114 It’s really interesting (and a bit funny too!)

I guess with the incident you shared, it might be a good idea to customize your video instructions so guests know they will have to use their assigned code. Maybe for example,  adding a reminder at the start or end of the video, or even a caption onscreen . Would you be adding that to your video instructions? 😉

@Bhumika Yes for clarity for sure.  I hope they listen better than they read lol 😀
