Hi everyone.
I am a recent host and today I am facing a complicated situation.
I had a reservation a month ago for 2 couples. Last week, they informed us that one of the couples couldn't make it so they would be only 2 people.
After several exchanges (to clarify location and check-in time), today, the day of the check in, they informed me that their identification document was expired and they weren't allowed in the plane.
I sent them a message saying that I was sorry, and should cancel their reservation.
I just got a message from them, saying that they read that we can change the reservation dates so they would come another time.
Now my questions:
- It's the day of the checkin. They should have to pay something (I have a moderate cancelation policy on the listing).
- If they don't cancel, they will probably be charged the 3 days they reserved. Will they be able to rate the space even if they didn't come?
- I could be hosting someone else the remainder of the days they will not be here. But I can only do so when they cancel the reservation.
What is the best attittude here? I'm not sure how to deal with this.
They notified me right away that they wouldn't come, but I'm not responsible for their documents being outdated...
Thank you advance to all 🙂
