Customer support has done what they can to be helpful in trying to help me change the category of our listing, to no avail so far.
Our house is on riverfront property. One wouldn't need a better description of it than that, "Riverfront Property." but there is no such option for that under the lengthy list of categories. The AI, or whatever program, decided we are Countryside. That sounds pleasant enough but it really doesn't suit our listing fairly.
More importantly, there is no way for the host to fix this seemingly arbitrary change to one's listing and no easy way for customer support to deal with it either. Have we have lost control of the AI at Airbnb?
It appears that if the program determines that you are in the country, based on some algorithm that looks might look at your photographs or GIS or something, then good luck getting it changed back to reality.
Please send HAL and put us back on the river!
