I have no idea what I should expect pricing to be for a cleaning service in the Poconos, PA on a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom townhouse. I have been told $190 from the cleaners I have asked, but it just seems high to me? I know I am charging the client who is staying at my house, but I don't want to deer them from booking!
Can anyone confirm with me this is an expected cost?
Thanks,
Jess
This is an international community so most of us won't have any idea of your local cleaning costs .
when you say it's high - what is your thinking based on?

Oh I'm sorry! I will try to find a local post! I am basing my thinking on the cleaning crew I have in my much larger city home versus my airbnb, small, isolated home. The isolated home is more expensive! However, two cleaning crews have quoted the same price - $190 flat.
@Jess6903 Cleaning fees are quite varied depending on the level of service. A regular cleaning person who comes to your home may charge $25 an hour for cleaning. However, once they know that it is an AirBnB, the level of cleaning is increased and the chores involved are more onerous, so pricing goes up.
I have a 2500 sq. ft. 3 bedroom 2 1/2 house that I live in. My cleaning lady charges me $100 for 4 hours of cleaning by one person. This involves scrubbing down the bathrooms and kitchen, mopping floors, dusting and vacuuming the house as a whole.
It does not include stripping and remaking beds, running multiple loads of laundry, stain treating linens and checking towels, replacing paper product supplies, putting out towel sets for guests, checking the silverware and dish counts, rewashing pots and pans, repositioning furniture to a certain configuration, emptying, scrubbing out and refilling the hot tub, brooming the outside deck for spiders...I could go on.
For doing the above referenced things in my 800 sq. ft. 2-bedroom 1 bath cabin I am charged $45 per hour of cleaning. Average cleaning is 3 hours ($135) as most of my guests leave the property in good shape.
The most that I have been able to "pass through" to my guests in the advertising without getting any pushback for having what guests consider to be unreasonable cleaning fees is $100.
You may have to consider adjusting your nightly rate to cover a percentage of the cleaning cost as well as charging a line-item cleaning fee.
