Starting your first Airbnb can feel overwhelming, so it’s completely understandable that you’re being cautious.

About your question  normally co-hosting works best when both sides have something already in place (either the property, the setup, or the funds). When someone is starting from zero, it’s good to take things step by step so you don’t end up stressed or taking on a risk you didn’t plan for.

For now, I’d suggest beginning with learning the basics: how hosting works, the costs involved, and what you can realistically manage. Once you have that foundation, it’s much easier to decide what kind of partnership makes sense for you.

You’re 100 % right, I’m starting from zero and no one is going to fund a complete beginner.

I’ve actually changed direction the last few days and I’m now doing management takeovers instead – taking over existing furnished units from burnt-out owners and running them remotely (zero capital from me).

Would love to get your quick take – do you see a lot of tired hosts in Cape Town who might want to go passive for 20–25 % while I handle everything?
