I set up my price with a discount because it’s new listing. I may have miss understood the idea

and lost a chance of earning. 
e.g.

one night $200

discount, let’s say 20%=$40 off per

night

The guest paid $160

per night, ok

But Should I expect the $40 to be pay out by  from AirBnb as a supportive measure to new host?

I totally get the confusion — it's a common question for new hosts. When you apply a discount (like the new listing promotion or a manual discount), the guest simply pays the reduced price, and Airbnb does not cover the difference. So in your example:

• You set the price at $200

• With a 20% discount, the guest pays $160

• Your payout is based on the $160 (minus Airbnb's service fee)

Unfortunately, that $40 isn’t covered or reimbursed by Airbnb — it’s just a way to make your listing more attractive while you build reviews and credibility

That said, many hosts find that offering a discount early on helps boost visibility and bookings, which can lead to better long-term earnings.

Unfortunately, Airbnb doesn’t pay the discounted amount. New hosts are given the option to offer it to help attract guests. So if your rate is $200 and you set a 20% discount, the guest pays $160 and that’s the amount your payout is based on (minus Airbnb host service fees).

The good side is that this can help you get those important first few bookings and reviews, which builds trust and give future guests more confidence to book your place. 😊

@Mia1090 , thank you for the clarification. I will alert changes in my listing. So I can at least cover the AirBnB expenses.
