Electric, Council tax and TV licence etc..

Hi everyone

We will be 1st time hosting a bungalow left to my husband by his late father.

What do we have to do with all the bills if it empty till we get a guest?

@Janet1610 Just make sure you only open the calendar for the dates up to completion or you will incur high fines from Airbnb. Also I would be concerned that selling is not going to be easy if you cannot show the place to prospective buyers when you have guests.

You will need to register for business rates (your local council can advise on the criteria @Janet1610

You will then need to register for a commercial waste service.

you need a fire assessment to comply with fire regs introduced last year.

you need to include utility costs when estimating your day rate.

you are responsible for for covering utilities when the property is empty

Thankyou Helen. I just need to persuade my husband that renting out a very smart bungelow left to him by his dad will make money until we can sell it.

We had long term tenants in but they moved out straight away when we said it was going on the market.

So I suggested AirBnB

Hiya

Yeh already spoken to Estate Agent we haven't got a buyer yet and it would be in a chain. They were pretty happy to do viewings when we say so I guess I can block out 2 days a week for viewings and just rent out on other days.

Also as our 2nd property and we don't live in it would I be correct in saying to contact the council to list for Business Rates?
