Fake pre approvals.

I have had three people in the last 24 hours send pre approvals and ask almost identical questions about our accommodations. Is this happening to anyone else?

Guests can't send pre approvals @Janae40  they can either send an inquiry or a booking request .

@Janae40  I can't say this for sure as there is no proof, and is only my opinion/ hypothesis based on what I experienced, however you may have been being tested. This happened to me several weeks ago where I had 8 inquiries,  over a week's time and not one of them ever  booked and they were all on the same subject.  If the questions about your accommodation had to do with anything that could be considered discriminatory, it was likely a test to see how you would respond.  I have never had 8 inquiries in the same week, ever, where not one person booked.

Yes, this can definitely happen. It’s common for multiple guests to inquire about the same dates at the same time. Until a reservation is confirmed, the dates remain available to everyone. The first guest who completes the booking and secures the reservation gets the dates, while the others will see that the dates are no longer available.
