Fraudulent Listing

I recently booked an Airbnb for a trip away. Upon arriving the listing was NOTHING like what was on the listing or what related to the reviews on Airbnb website.

I had to leave, book a new reservation costing me $880 as the refund from Airbnb didn’t come through in an appropriate time and my family needed to get to bed on a Friday evening

I am now $880 out of pocket with an $800 credit I don’t want or need. AirBnB broke the terms and conditions of the booking by falsely advertising a property and on top of that made me late on a Friday night have to book new accommodation using my CC as they didn’t refund me the original booking for over 4hrs

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do?

@Gavin202

Sorry to hear what has happened to you, it's not the norm as you well know,

My first question, did you take photo's to back up your claim?

Only I had a guest some years ago saying the property was nothing like what he booked, complete B/S that day I had let my cleaner check him in, Right I'll be there in 5 minutes with my ipad,

I proved him wrong.

In defense of airbnb how can they approve every listing? They have to rely on the host being honest, I have seen similar post to yours in the past, I thought what could they do to improve that,

With my car insurance I have to download an app and do a walk around my car before they renew my insurance, if thats possible I dont know.

I agree with you airbnb should have acted quicker and give you your refund, I did think they were supposed to find you alternative accommodation? maybe Im wrong..

I took plenty of photos and sent them. My issue with Airbnb is because of their listing I had to rebook alternate accommodation and as they didn’t refund me in a timely manner I couldn’t use the gift card and I had to pay for the new accommodation via credit card.

They are refusing to help me at all. Saying the terms and conditions are that they can only refund to original paid method (which was a gift card). However because of their listing and their untimely manner in refunding I had to pay an additional $880 via my CC. If I had of waited until 930pm to get the refund my family would of had nowhere to sleep or eat that night

Try them on their social media. Say the credit came through too late for you to use it for an alternative listing and you have lost all faith in Airbnb so can't risk using the platform again @Gavin202

Insist they refund not credit you.

What were the previous reviews of this listing like by the way.

Do make sure you leave an honest review to warn other guests.

All the reviews up to when we booked it were fantastic so we had no reason to believe anything less. What’s the best social media channel? Having spoken with various supervisors and received messages they are refusing to refund me in cash

they are missing the point - if I had of been issued credit in a timely manner I could of used it but I couldn’t wait until 9.30pm to use it as my family needed a roof over there head

I would suggest you post on all their social media channels @Gavin202  ie FB, IG, Twitter etc
