Our five star review was great, but the translation was so ridiculous that it was funny. Customer service was not permitted to correct it once it was posted.
Hi Patricia4159,
Never happened to me but would love to hear more of the story, especially that it was funny.
We need a tad more humor every so often!
Haha! It really made me laugh, see above. I accused my husband of behaving like an ass!
Hello @Patricia4159
Yes me!! A German guest left me a 5* review saying how comfortable the beds were and in the French version you can read "beds NOT comfortable". I contacted CS about it to explain that I didn't want the review changed since it was great but I did want the translation to reflect this review. It took him a while to actually hear what I was saying since on his screen he had a great translation but that's not what was showing under my listing. I said I would be most happy to have his translated version but he said no and that my only solution was to ask my guest to withdraw their great 5* star review. Seriously? Why would I want to do that I asked him?
Hit my head against the wall at this stage as he was adamant that that was all I could do😡 I ended up leaving a public review in French under my guest's review that I was delighted that she found the beds comfortable!
Luckily the English translation was better translated. But it stills seems unfair to me that the CS rep just didn't get it - I was not asking for a change in the guest review just a true translation of it.
All the best
Joëlle
My CS rep did her best after she stopped laughing. There is no way to edit a review, but you are correct that there should be a way to edit a mistake by the translator. The best we can do for now is make it very clear that it was a translation error in our response.
@Patricia4159 I just had to show your review as it is a classic. I hope the moderators don't censor this classic bit of humour.
Thank you for posting the whole story! I was laughing too as well as customer service. At first, I thought my husband did something to offend them 🙂
@Patricia4159 I should say your response is absolutely perfect. Many hosts would give a knee jerk reaction to a bad review whereas you clearly made time (after initially blaming your husband of course) to find out what had actually occurred.
Ah, @Patricia4159 @Mike-And-Jane0 I was going through this thread and I did chuckle a bit like everyone else at what transpired here.
The most amazing part is how @Patricia4159 has been so clever with the response and totally loved how she responded to the guest's review. You are such a great sport @Patricia4159 💖.
Additionally, I have found this review in Patricia's profile and sharing this comical mishap with our tech team as a feedback.😆
Thank you so much! My hope is that this story reaches someone who can make it possible to correct translations in the future. The guests who wrote the 5 star review were wonderful. They even left me a big candle and half a chocolate cake!
Wow!! Such an amazing and kind gesture from the guest😍!
Seems like they really wanted to thank you for their enjoyable and comfortable stay at your listing!!🎁
