We are interested in renting an RV as a stationary lodging on a nice site already hooked up to water and power, etc. Near a picturesque toursit/arts town. Anyone doing that? The 32' RV is nicely appointed and fully equiped. We are not interested in renting the vehicle for travel but rather as a small cottage-like environment in a nice setting. With the slide out the square footage is about 300, but with the awning the indoor/outdoor living space is close to 500 sq feet.
Any suggestions appreciated.

I am just seeing this so sorry for the 2 year delay! 🙂 Hope you figured it out and are renting your own RV. We purchased a used unit that we use about 1/2 the year for our own private use. When we are home we airbnb it and love meeting some pretty amazing people! I hope you are having fun with your RV and enjoying rentals!!

We discovered water damage to the back wall so had to SNOOZE the listing to address the repair. Should be back and up running hopefully in February.
As a traveler, I rented a camper van for 3 days on the streets of Oslo, Norway. The van was totally stealth with no hookups. There was a chemical toilet, a gas stove and a water bag shower. It was awesome.
That sounds like such fun! Our RV is on SNOOZE at this time. We don't allow anyone to drive it off location so its fixed but the area we live in is a great place to explore!
My husband and I just opened an RV Park in the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee, and we have a rental log cabin on the property as well that is currently listed on Airbnb. We have a 44' toy hauler that we traveled in before we settled here. It is very nice and our 2nd home. It just sits and we are wanting to rent it out only as a stationary rental. Not sure how to go about listing it. Can anyone steer me in the right direction please?
My wife and I run the Monte Verde RV Park in Angel Fire NM. We have listed two RV's on Airbnb and found great success doing so. I've included a link to one of them. We rent it out year around - even in the winter at 8400 ft. The feedback has been great. We get families who like RVing but don't want to pull their personal rigs up our mountain passes, people who grew up RVing but don't have their own and a lot of people looking to buy an RV but want to test one out before doing so. Then there are people looking for a cheap place to stay. Hope the info helped. Good luck!
As an RVpark owner, would you allow someone to rent a year round space with you, and then they let it to AirBnB folks? Trying to discover how friendly RVParks are to such a set up, before making a ton of phone calls.
Kim, I’m trying to do the same thing. Have you had any luck with RV parks letting you rent a year round spot? I’m in San Francisco and would look for a spot near Sonoma / Napa. Also was thinking about talking to wineries and perhaps installing the utility lines myself as part of the deal.

Hey Ben, it's me Ben again, revisiting this thread a year late. I am still thinking of doing this travel trailer RV business but I know that I really need to have a lot of money in the bank to do such a thing. Currently I am about to launch a private lable product business to sell on Amazon. Once I can get a good stream of income from that, then I will decide to buy a used travel trailer. Travel trailers are pretty cheap and you can get a thrity ft one used for way under 20K with slides and everything. If I were to do this, I would make sure the trailer has 2 rooms in order to accomodate a whole family to charge the most amount of money. I would not bother with anything that has a motor. Just way too much maintenance to deal with. The only places that allow full time spots are usually down south and for retired people. A lot in Florida. Many campgrounds let you store the trailer during offseason. Luckilly, most campsite seasons are long from April - November. I want to try doing this business model in Las Vegas area because those campsites are usually all year round and always lots of tourists. Let's say you rent out a spot at a campsite that charges approximately $40/day. For Airbnb, because your trailer is so unique and you won't have much competition, you can charge a little more than the market rate. You are selling an experience not just a place to stay. I think it's fair to charge $200 and up for a family of 4-6 people. They can even travel with their dogs for all I care. It is very hard to do a business model like this without proper infrastructure like a campsite with hookups. And God forbid, something goes wrong with the toilet or shower, most campsites have that on site. In order to scale such a thing, all you need to do is get more trailers on site.
The question comes down to, will the campground let me rent out my unit to somebody else if I'm not the one staying in it, while my name is registered for that hookup site? Most campgrounds allow for guests which some charge up to $15 per guest per night. Have you learned anything new going about this business arrangement with the campsites yet?
