Hello how do we make sure a guest doesn’t get an exact address until right before the reservation time?
The exact address of a "general location" listing used to be hidden for longer, but it's now shared with all confirmed guests 48 hours before arrival. You can't change that @Mike3828
What's the issue, are guests showing up while you're still preparing?
Hello @Shelley159 @Mike3828
Since March 2026, Airbnb now reveal the exact location to guests as soon as the booking is confirmed so well before the original 48 hours before arrival time!
See link below:
This is very confusing. Either it’s a general
location or it’s a specific. Which is it? And where in the app does it show that the address is shared either at confirmation or at 48 hrs before the stay? It can’t be both. I’m very annoyed that Airbnb does not make this clear. Are they trying to avoid liability?
I agree with you @Mike3828, this is confusing as there are two conflicting help links :
Another new feature introduced, is that guests now have a free 24 hour cancellation window to cancel ALL reservations, even the non refundable one.
We can however choose to either give a general location or a more precise location of our listing location when guests are just browsing on our listing.
The issue is that Airbnb is being unclear. It's either that the address is shown at confirmation or at 48 hours before the stay, but which is it? Is Airbnb trying to avoid liability by being unclear?
I want my guests, and prospective guests, to know my address and see the exterior and all around the outside and the location. How else can they make a decision on whether they should book my place? I will never make a reservation where the exterior is not shown, and where the immediate surroundings are also not shown.
Listings with no address provided and no exteriors shown must be in some dubious locations.
It depends on the host's judgement @Fiona256
Guests could have passports, expensive cameras, sometimes cash and are often relaxed.
Out of consideration, some hosts choose not to show publicly in great detail where tourists will be staying. It's a matter of judgement how much you share and at what stage.
You're a guest who's comfortable with all information publicly available, while others may prefer to stay at listings that take some steps to protect privacy.
In cities and towns, and even rural areas, it's usually very obvious where tourists are staying. They are arriving with cases and standing around looking at maps etc on their phones, or trying to contact hosts or access key safes outside buildings.
