How do we get Airbnb to collect the 10%tax owed for occupancy tax in our city and give it to me, the owner of the property to pay directly to the city -required by the city.

Our city requires that the owner of the property pay the 10% occupancy tax to the City. Airbnb support told me that they will pay it. How can we fix this?  The support staff was not willing to make a change.

To be fair to CS in some areas in the US Airbnb collects the tax via the listing and pays it to directly to the city.

 

If this is the case @Joan3113  CS are correct and you can't choose to pay it directly.

@Joan3113 I would talk to the City again. Either Airbnb has an agreement to collect and remit this tax or they do not. If the latter then customer support is wrong (not unusual). You should be able to add a tax to your listing yourself (but you may need pro tools switched on in your account to do so).
