Hi i am just about to become a host for the 1st time but was wondering how hosts manage house insurance (UK based) if the place is in your own home?

Any advice appreciated. Thank you

@Tonia789 Call JM Lewis insurance brokers as they have Airbnb specific policies for your situation that are not available elsewhere.

Also make sure you have informed your mortgage company as this is another issue that trips people up

Hi, I was interested in this because we need to find a new insurance company. But when I searched I couldn't find them listed? Please could you provde a contact?

Thanks!

One thing I'd definitely make sure of is that your insurer actually knows you're hosting guests in the home. A lot of people assume standard homeowners coverage automatically extends to short-term rentals, and sometimes it doesn't.

I'd also ask specifically about liability coverage, especially if guests are sharing common spaces, stairs, decks, pools, fireplaces, etc.

Probably not the most exciting part of hosting, but much easier to sort out before your first booking than after a claim.

Hi @Tonia789

I see that you've received advice from two different hosts now, so I was wondering if you'd made any progress in your search - are you closer to finding the information you need and start hosting?

Let us know if you have more questions 🙂
