You could join your local host group on FB and post your questions there @Trevor488

You could also pay cohosts in your area who are five star hosts themselves if you want more detailed advice and support.

Hi Trevor @Trevor488

That’s exciting you’re thinking about renting out part of your home!

I'm personally not a big fan of advertising my rental on Facebook...but .. whatever works right?

While I can’t call directly, I’m happy to share some practical tips here that might help you get started:

Know your local rules – London, Ontario has specific short-term rental regulations, so checking licensing, insurance, and zoning early will save you headaches later.

Set clear boundaries – Since you’ll be sharing your home, think through things like kitchen/bathroom use, quiet hours, and privacy. Writing this out in your listing helps avoid misunderstandings.

Start simple – A clean, well-presented space with thoughtful touches (fresh linens, a welcome note, good WiFi) often matters more to guests than expensive upgrades.

Photography matters – Listings with bright, accurate photos convert better. Natural light and decluttered rooms make a huge difference.

Pricing strategy – Begin slightly below average local rates to build reviews quickly, then adjust once you’ve established yourself.

The community here is a great place to ask questions as you go—hosts from all over the world share valuable insights. Wishing you the best as you set up your hosting journey in London!

Hi @Trevor488,

Welcome to the Community Center! Because this is an international community, it may be difficult to connect with hosts from a certain location. However, there are Local Host Clubs available, which are great for finding details about local rules, permits, cleaning providers, and other area-specific information. It’s a good idea to visit those groups for more targeted support.

Let me know if you need more help!

Best,

Alex
