I have noticed a drop in foreigners booking since Trump’s tariffs and National Guard presence here in Chicago. Do you find this trend in your location as well? Here, I believe that the ICE attacks are frightening some people although the city in general is very safe and the tourist areas unaffected.
Hi @Antoinette143
It’s understandable to notice changes in booking patterns, especially when there’s a lot of news coverage around certain events. In many locations, international travel can fluctuate for reasons like currency changes, visa requirements, airline prices, or general uncertainty and sometimes these shifts temporarily affect Airbnb bookings as well.
A few hosts in different cities have also mentioned seeing fewer international guests recently, while domestic travel stayed steady or even increased. These patterns can vary a lot depending on the neighbourhood and the time of year.
One thing that can sometimes help is highlighting safety, transport options, and nearby attractions clearly in your listing. Guests who are unfamiliar with the area often feel more reassured when they see practical information presented upfront.
Hopefully things balance out again soon, travel demand tends to move in cycles. 😊
Another (AI generated ?) bla-bla from a community user with an Airbnb profile whose identity has not been verified.I hope the moderators can stop this.
You are right there does seem to be a spate of people joining who are neither hosts or guests using AI to respond to inquriess who have no experience of managing an Airbnb... the next thing you know they pop up offering 'marketing services or help in managing a listing'
There's been a 15% drop in overseas visitors due to the Trump effect - this will have a huge impact on tourism in the US. @Antoinette143
I have lots of family in the US and certainly won't visit again while your current president is in power/ your current immigration policies are in place .
