I want to go live; but it is ovewhelming. The horror stories make it seem not worth it.

Hi @Tina12074,
If you’d like, I’d love to connect and share our story with you! We also just went live in April and have received nothing but positive reviews and feedback so far.
We completely understand how overwhelming it can feel at first, and we’d be happy to give you a hand in any way we can. Please feel free to reach out if you'd like to connect!
Best,
Kevin and Lisa
Hi @Tina12074,
I understand completely how you feel but rest assured the vast majority of hosts find the experience a positive one
There is much you can do to minimise issues if you are feeling cautious such as initially vetting who can book such as only accepting experienced guests with positive feedback
You can manage your calendar, just opening up a short period to begin with
I implemented this when I was new but soon moved on to instant book and opening my calendar into the next year as my confidence grew and I wanted to increase the amount of bookings
You are not alone and have the support of Airbnb in the event you were to have any concerns
All hosts were new once, you clearly care and will make a great host
Please don’t let some horror stories
stop you from trying this great opportunity and being part of the special Airbnb community
You could also consider getting a co host who can share their experience with you and guide you through the process
I wish you well
Amanda
I've been in the business for 10 years, I've hosted over 1,000 guests. I've had four stories total in the "horror" category. If you do the math, it is a pretty low percentage. I micromanage the business myself so that helps a lot. Communication will be everything. If you active manage your business, or any business for that matter, your chances of success will be higher. If you are overwhelmed and the whole idea seems overwhelming already, you might want to ask yourself why you feel overwhelmed if you haven't even started. It has been a lot of work for me, but I am a doer so work doesn't intimidate me. Best of luck @Tina12074.
Hi @Tina12074 I completely understand how you feel — going live can feel overwhelming, especially with all the stories out there. That’s actually why I take extra care before accepting any guests. I never accept requests right away; I always review the guest’s profile first. I look at their star ratings, reviews, and overall behavior to make sure they’re a good fit. It gives me more peace of mind and helps create a safer experience
Dear @Tina12074 ,
I totally understand your feeling: you put all yourself in this new business, you care about delivering the best experience and doing your best and more, and now, our brain takes us to think the worse scenario. But, don't listen to it, you are ready and you did everything with care and love and that matters! Be sure of yourself! To be more relaxed, maybe, think for a moment that you are the guest entering your place: what would be your first impression? I am sure this will make you more at ease!
Best of luck for your new start!
Ciao
