Loss of ‘super-host’ status and 100 dollar fine for a cancellation!

Because I was closed down over the COVID period and couldn’t reach Airbnb’s minimum targets on bookings, they have stripped me of my super-host status – even though I’ve emailed them twice as to how unjust this is in a pandemic and how it’s restricting my earning capacity. I am furious with their draconian , oppressive stance. Their total lack of empathy for the health of their hosts and guests in their quest for more money is outrageous. Before Covid came a long I ran a very successful operation in my town – Glastonbury UK.

On top of that they OK ‘d a booking, which I had to cancel on Government guidelines and now I have been fined 100 dollars for doing it – even though the client requested that I cancel it to enable her to claim a ‘full’ refund.

None of my emails are getting a reply. This isn’t a caring company and I’m not going to be treated in this way by anyone – I am considering my choices as whether I want to deal with a company

with such low empathetic values and a company where profit clearly scores over it’s people.

They are sending me a clear message by ignoring my emails and views and requests for an explanation.

@Gerry68 A few thoughts:

1) Loss of Superhost status will be unlikely to affect your bookings

2) Freed from the mind controlling restraints of trying to keep Superhost status you may actually be happier

3) Hosts need to be careful cancelling reservations. If you don't want to be fined and have your cancellation rate affected you needed to have called Airbnb and explain the stay was illegal and hence should be cancelled for free. Clearly too late for you but hopefully will help others.
