From what I’ve seen managing many listings, the platform tends to reward “active” listings. Things like:
So if you change a price and someone is searching around that moment, there’s a chance the algorithm gives your listing more exposure temporarily. Same with photo updates or calendar/activity changes. It’s not guaranteed “instant front page”, but activity usually helps.
One of the biggest factor today, though, is pricing strategy. Airbnb’s system heavily favors listings that adapt to real demand instead of having static prices. Demand changes every day depending on:
events,
weekends,
seasonality,
occupancy in the area,
booking window,
competitor pricing, etc.
That’s why sometimes a listing with slightly worse photos still ranks above another one — because the pricing is more optimized for conversion.
