Hi. I'm the property manager for Oakbones in Round Top TX. I have a guest that wants to change her reservation. As of now it is for Cabin II on Oct. 13-16. She wants to change it to Cabin I for Oct. 6-9. Same number of days and same amount. I have blocked Cabin 1 for her until I can figure out how to help her.
How do I do that?
Hello @Oakbones0 ,
There are a few things that can be changed in an existing reservation, such as the number of guests and the dates, but not the listing itself.
The best solution is to ask your guest to cancel the reservation with a full refund and then book the other suite for the new dates.
Make sure all communication is done in the Airbnb chat.
Also confirm that the new reservation includes the same number of guests.
Airbnb customer service is excellent when it comes to handling changes like this.
I cannot count how many times I have done it.
Actually, you can modify the reservation and change the guest to the other property, as long as the new property is under your Host profile; not a Co Host profile (it looks like it is from your post). You would need to message her about the change and provide a link to the new property (seems like she already knows this) and then send a trip change request to her using the change reservation feature. Turn OFF Instant Book if using for both listings involved, unblock dates on Cabin I and then send the change request to guest. She will have to accept the change to the new listing. Once she accepts, you can turn Instant Book back on (if using):

@Oakbones0
@Joan2709 , Thank you. I had missed this option before, and that is actually the easiest way to do it.
That said, I personally do not make changes to my guests’ reservations. When they make a change, they take full responsibility for any price differences. So although it is technically possible, I still prefer to ask the guest to cancel and rebook, or to handle the change of listing from their side. I do not even send change requests for number of guests or dates.
Good point. I think this is why Airbnb says the Host must provide the link to to the new listing and the guest must accept the reservation change to the new listing (by accepting, they are agreeing to all changes). A Host can also ensure the new listing has the exact prices as the previous one. The change request should also display if there is any price changes on the detail before submitting.
If the guest is outside the free cancellation window, this would really be the easiest way to go, as otherwise the guest would have to cancel, Host would have to provide a full refund on first listing and guest would have to book the new listing.
