Pet fees and restrictions

New to hosting and want to understand where people put their pet restrictions (i.e. # and types of pets). Also, want to understand the fee per stay.

HI @Jennifer4418

Off my ios app you would go to Calendar> Settings (right upper corner) >scroll down to additional charges > click on and add your fee.  I have seen amounts on the average of $25 per night or $150 flat fee per pet. The highest # of pet's I have seen allowed is 2, some have a weight limit of 50#. It's a personal choice of yours and what you see the value of the extra cleaning involved. I personally do not allow any pets for my guests. I have had guests stay specifically for the reason I'm pet free (allergies),I have my own people friendly dog, Bella though the most significant reason is the damage that has been done to us in the past.

Listing Editor > scroll down past About The Host > House Rules is where I would put in info such as if you are breed specific or don't want iguanas or pot belly pigs placing it right at top where you can free text. Also where you would appreciate them to potty, being left alone, etc.

Under Description >scroll down to Other Derails to Note and I would place again your preferences about animals so it is very clear.

As I don't allow pets possibly better wisdom of those who allow might get chimed in.

I hope this helps.

I also wanted to share a few Airbnb articles that might add some more perspective to your question :

@Jennifer4418   I put Pet information in the very first paragraph of my listing.

"Up to 2 pets, $$$ pet fee per stay".

If you have a type or size maximum, add that in the same sentence.

"Up to 2 dogs, no cats, 50 lb. per dog maximum, $$$ Pet fee per stay."

I note that it is per stay as the AirBnB programmers have not set up the pet fee to be per pet or per night.  You can only charge a flat fee per booking.  I did research kennel charges in my area, so I know that my pet fee is reasonable.

Additional locations are the House Rules, in my response letter to guests -- "Your request for arrival date to departure date for 4 adults, no children and 2 dogs has been added to our calendar"  blah, blah.... and again in my Welcome Package.

Hi @Jennifer4418 you can include pet restrictions under your House Rules as an Additional Rule. This is a common practice and allows you to clearly communicate your policies to potential guests. You can specify details such as whether pets are allowed, types of pets you do or do not allow, any size or breed restrictions, and areas of the property where pets are not permitted. Airbnb has the option where you can put in a maximum number of pets in your listing.

Regarding pet fees, there is a feature where Airbnb allows hosts to set additional fees, which can include a pet fee. This fee is usually a flat rate per stay to cover any extra cleaning or wear and tear associated with having a pet on your property. But that's a flat rate not per pet,  you can include in your house rules and listing description how much is your pet fee and if it's per pet. Hope this helps!
